Drive out tapered pin (20) and remove bevel gear

Using adjustable spanner wrench, remove exter-

nally threaded nut (22).
Remove spring (23) and two flat washers (24),

Remove wormshaft (25) and related parts.

Remove self-locking nut (26), flat washer (27), and
bearing (28) from wormshaft (25). Discard self-
locking nut.

Drive out tapered pin (29) from bevel gear (30).

Remove bevel gear (30) from shaft of housing (31).

Remove two channels (32) from housing (31) by
removing two machine screws (33) and two
Iockwashers (34) from each channel. Discard
Iockwashers.

Remove two stops (35).
Remove plug (36), only if necessary for replace-

ment.
b. Repair

1 Remove corrosion, grease, and dirt from all parts.
Refer to TM 9-254 for cleaning instructions.
2 Visually inspect for missing or damaged parts.
3 Repair or replace parts in accordance with author-
ized parts listed in appendix D.
